Storifies

I tweet therefore I am.

Okay that might be an existential stretch but I do tweet a lot (30.9 K and counting).

But I can’t help myself.

When it comes to growing professionally via Twitter, #sharingiscaring is my unwritten rule of thumb.

On February 12 2014, I wrote:

“Working with George (@gcouros) in designing the Pro-D, I learned that he makes very few requests if any. (side note: ever wonder what happens when a Type A works with a Type B?) However he did make two requests of me that have impacted me professionally.

At the end of the day, he “voluntold” me to storify the tweets. Thankfully I did not let my pride stop me from acknowledging that I didn’t know how to Storify… yet! So here I am composing my first storify learning it through trial and error, clicking on buttons (“wonder what that does?”), and learning that I really, really like Storify (as complementary to my blog posts). George is Dr. Frankenstein to my Monster.”

Since then I have archived my professional learning in the form of virtual scrapbooks via storify. Consequently, I have “written” 68 such stories. These narratives are created from the 140-character tweets from events like EDvent, TEDx, Ignite, EdCamp, DENapalooza, etc…

However the Storify platform is coming to an end in May and I am feeling a bit melancholy about losing this form of storytelling.

I will need to edit my twitter profile from “storifier” to “storymaker”.

These are not my stories alone. The co-authors are members of my professional learning community. I am humbled by their generosity and vulnerability in welcoming me into their journeys over the past four years.

Of the 68 storifies made since February 2014:

  • My most popular storify (with 35, 505 views) was Once Upon a Time
  • My favorite storify motif was Common.
  • My most treasured storify to assemble but no one has viewed: Journey to Joy
  • Including Out of This World, it took seven (7) storifies to capture the awesomeness of the FISA 2016 Convention.
  • I still cannot believe I got to be present for and subsequently storify this moment: We are in the Miracle Business.
  • I even storified an event that I wish I had attended: Vicariously.
  • Thank you to @shareski and @gabrielpillay1 for hosting amazing events like Ignites and EDvents respectively. A quarter of my storifies are dedicated to their events.
